Sack, R. Weihnachten in aller Welt

Christmas is a popular and much loved holiday not only in Germany but also in many countries of the world. However, the holiday traditions of different nations are very different too. Thus, in Iceland, 13 Yule Lads come on Christmas Eve; in Norway, people dance around the Christmas tree; and in Poland, one should taste 12 dishes during Christmas Eve.

In some countries, the weather is so hot on Christmas that it is impossible to light the candles – they just melt, and children swim in the sea and play on the beach. Gifts differ too, what’s interesting, in Norway, they start giving gifts as early as November.

The book describes these and other peculiarities.
