Every year Henrik Vanger receives pressed flowers in frames for his birthday. It wouldn’t be strange, but for one nuance – the only person who presented him with such gifts was his niece Harriet who disappeared almost forty years ago and the family still doesn’t have any trace of her. Henrik hires Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist, to investigate the case. He is aided by Lisbeth Salander, a talented hacker with a quirky appearance and asocial behavior. Together they will try to unravel this tangled web of corruption schemes, family stories and human relations to reveal the truth about the crime committed so long ago. The novel received various awards including the Glass Key Award (2006), the Exclusive Books Boeke Prize (2008), and the Galaxy British Book Award (2009) and has been filmed twice.
