Stevenson R.L. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a gothic novella about the dual nature of man – good and evil coexisting in every person. The main character, the respectable Doctor Henry Jekyll, invents an elixir that helps him separate his “dark self”. Thus, the hideous and violent Mr. Hyde comes into being. At first, the plan seems ideal – he can indulge his vices without tarnishing his reputation. But, over time, his evil alter ego begins to dominate, ultimately leading to tragic consequences.
