Retrieving materials from the Main Collection Department at readers’ requests
Requests for items from the Main Collection Department can be submitted: - via the E-catalog - via the virtual card catalog - in handwriting on a request form
Electronic request can be submitted through both the E-catalog and the virtual card catalog. Handwritten request forms are accepted according to the following procedure: I.
II. Handwritten requests for all types of documents are accepted by librarians in Reading Room 1 (Information Center 24/7) from 9:00 to 21:00 Monday through Friday, and from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
Fulfilling requests for materials from the Main Collection Department Requests are fulfilled within 1 h 30 min on weekdays if submitted between 9:00 and 17:00.
Interlibrary loan requests are accepted by the ILL librarian, who then forwards them to the Main Collection Department for fulfillment. Requests for newspapers may be accepted by a librarian in Reading Room 2 (Professors’), who then forwards them to the Main Collection Department for fulfillment. There are restrictions applied to certain types of documents at the library: 1. A letter of request must be provided from your employer or educational institution, stating the purpose and subject of your research work, addressed to:
- for documents published before 1850 - for original copies of digitized newspapers from the 19th – early 20th centuries, including Siberian ones
- for documents with restricted access (from the restricted-access collection) 2. First acquired or single copies published after 1945, journals and newspapers are available for use only in Reading Room 2 (Professors’). 3. Requested items are kept at the selected location for 5 days for the reader to collect.
If you have difficulty submitting a request, ask a librarian for assistance. NB! Handwritten requests and requests submitted through the virtual card catalog will not appear in Your Account in the E-catalog.
